I M P O R T A N T
NOTE: Before Performing Any Of These Steps, Close All Running Programs. Exit Out Of All of Your Open Files And Programs. Turn Off Your Screen Saver.
**BEST TO PERFORM THESE
STEPS WHILE AT LUNCH OR ON BREAK!**

ONCE A WEEK - DO THE FOLLOWING

1. DISK CLEANUP

Follow These Steps:

Click on Start ,

 

        Then Click on Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Disk Cleanup.

From Disk Cleanup, Select Drive C:, Click on OK

This dialog box will appear telling you
that the computer is checking the hard drive (C: ) of your computer.

This screen will appear telling you that the computer
is checking the hard drive (C: ) of your computer.


When it is completed, a new dialogue box will appear suggestingyou delete your Internet Temp Files, Recycle Bin, etc. Read the list and click on those files you want to delete, and then click on OK. It is safe to delete the Temporary Files and the Recycle Bin (unless you placed a file there by mistake!)

2. DISK DEFRAGMENTER

Follow These Steps:

Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Select Disk Defragmenter.

A Disk Defragmenter dialog box will appear. Click on (C:) to Select The Hard Drive

Click on ACTION, ANALYZE to start defragmenting.

3. CLEAR INTERNET FILES. RID YOUR COMPUTER OF COOKIES, TEMP FILES AND OTHER MISCELLANEOUS FILES, WHICH CAN SLOW DOWN YOUR COMPUTER WHILE SURFING THE INTERNET. FOLLOW THESE STEPS:
    Connect to the Internet
From the File Menu Click Tools, Internet Options,

Next, Click Delete Cookies, Click Delete Files, Click Clear History

4. CHECK FOR VIRUSES:

Always Scan Disks That You Put In The Floppy Drive A: Before Opening A File From The Disk.

     
To Do This:     A.  Insert the Diskette in the Floppy Drive A.
                              B. Click on Start, Programs


                             D. Click on Floppy Drive A:
                             E. Click on GO.
                             F. Your computer will check for viruses on Drive A.

YOU ARE REQUIRED TO READ THE SCREEN AND RESPOND TO THE STEPS.



ONCE A MONTH - DO THE FOLLOWING

1. UPDATE YOUR WINDOWS OPERATING SYSTEM

       Follow These Steps:

Click on Start, Programs, then Windows Update

Windows Update is a catalog of items such as drivers, patches, the latest help files, and Internet products that you can download to keep your omputer up to date.

The program will search for the latest version of your Windows Operating System and will tell you it is searching for critical files that you need to install on your computer.
