The Day Before the Interview

  • Take a practice trip to the interview office. This will help you plan how much time you need to arrive on schedule.
  • Make childcare plans and any other plans that require you to depend on someone else. Always have a backup plan in mind, just in case.
  • Learn about the company and the requirements of the type of position for which you are applying. This will show the employer you have a strong desire to work for their company.
  • Plan your clothing for the interview. Make sure your clothes are cleaned and ironed.
  • Be prepared to ask questions about career advancement. It is not proper to discuss salary on the first interview.
  • Be prepared to answer the question, "Tell Me About Yourself". Be positive. If you state a negative back it up with a positive comment. Such as, "I tend to procrastinate. Since I know this about myself I keep a daytimer/calender listing all of my appointments/responsibilities for each week".
